How does a customer use a Smart Store?

Step by step how a customer opens the Smart Store, selects items and how they are charged

Step-by-Step

  1. On the home screen of the payment terminal, tap "Press to Start"
  2. To confirm that you'd like to access the Smart Store, tap "Pre-authorize" (learn more)
  3. Tap, insert or swipe your card to Pre-Authorize the card
    • If its your first time using that particular card, you will be prompted to enter your phone number to receive an SMS receipt (first-time only).
  4. Once pre-authorized, the door will unlock. Pull the door open to gain access to the products.
  5. You can now enjoy a natural shopping experience and take as many items as you like. The Product Recognition Sensors automatically detect what has been taken out. 
    • You are only charged for the items taken out after the door is closed.
    • While the door is open, if you take an item and return it back in its place, you will not be charged for that item.
  6. Upon closing the door, you will receive an SMS to confirm that your transaction took place and that you will receive an SMS receipt once the system has processed the order
  7. Within a few hours of the transaction, you will receive an SMS with a link to an itemized receipt.
