๐Ÿ“ Smart Store Placement

Work with the client to identify the best location for the cabinet(s). From our experience, this means:

  • High-foot traffic areas or where people naturally go during their day-to-day. The space should be bright, inviting and safe for customers.
  • The back of the cabinet backs against a full-height wall (no cables etc, exposed)
  • At least one side of the cabinet is visible to passersby (best to include graphics of food, logo, etc.)
  • Examine walls, ceiling, and floor for cracks/leaks/damage/pests
  • Confirm the name of the location where the Smart Store will be installed (eg the โ€œ2nd-floor break roomโ€)
  • Avoid unit installation in areas with open flames (kitchens, repair garages or the like) or in the vicinity of open flames or high surface temperatures.
  • Avoid unit installation in confined spaces. Well-ventilated areas are preferred. Keep clear all ventilation opens of obstructions.
  • Space in front of the cabinet (30 in)
    • The door swings all the way open (handle on left, hinge on right)
    • Ensure no obstruction of the door (eg hanging lamps)
    • Sufficient clearance in the hallway

๐Ÿšš Equipment Delivery

  • Loading dock or street level (do we need a straight truck or lift gate)
    • If Loading Dock: find out if there are timing restrictions, sign-in protocols, or reservations required
    • If Street Level: where does the lift-gate truck park? Are there any parking/access restrictions?
  • Building certifications, clearances, and insurance requirements (Workerโ€™s Compensation / Certificate of Insurance required?)
  • Building entry protocol (Concierge? Badge entry? Buzzer?)
  • Route from truck location to smart store location (take photos/videos along this path)
    • Accessibility and obstacles during equipment delivery
      • Elevator Access/Reservation: If elevators are necessary for the move, does this need to be scheduled and put in "service mode"? Measure the elevator doors and ensure weight limitations are not exceeded.
      • Are there any curbs, stairs, ramps?
      • Low ceilings/doorways? (<7ft, take measurements)
      • Narrow doors? (<32โ€, take measurements)
      • Client Point-of-Contact Info for Equipment Delivery (name, role, email, phone)
      • Installation timing preference - typically clients don't want installations during heavy foot traffic periods (e.g. 8-10AM / 4-7PM in an apartment building, or 11-1PM in an office building)

    ๐Ÿ“ฆ Food/Product Deliveries

    • Where to park during deliveries?
      • If Street Level: courier parking? Visitor parking? Paid?
      • If Loading Dock: timings, sign-in protocol, time limits
    • Building access protocol (Concierge? Badge entry? Buzzer?)
    • Client Point-of-Contact Info for Delivery (name, role, email, phone)
    • Building timings (what hours can delivery drivers access the smart store)
    • Route from van location to smart store location (take photos/videos along this path)
    • Accessibility and obstacles during food delivery
      • Elevators? (take measurements, weight restrictions, badge required or public?)
      • Are there any curbs, stairs, ramps?
      • Low ceilings/doorways? (<7ft, take measurements)
      • Narrow doors? (<32โ€, take measurements)

      ๐Ÿ”Œ Power

      See: Cabinet Technical Specifications

      • Are there 2 available 120V plugs? Each cabinet requires 2 plugs
        • Ensure no other devices/appliances are plugged into these circuits.
        • 15A dedicated circuit is recommended
      • Is backup/generator power for the smart store available? (Y/N)
      • Power cables are 9ft long. Ensure that the cabinet can be placed in a manner where power is accessible without an extension cable and that the power cables can be covered (to prevent accidental unplugging
