Placement Guidelines
Proper placement and ventilation are critical to Smart Cabinet cooling performance and safety.
To allow proper airflow around the refrigeration system, maintain the following minimum clearances:
- Left and Right Sides: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
- Back: 1 inch (2.5 cm)
- Top: 6 inches (15 cm)
Do not block airflow vents or place the smart cabinets flush against walls or cabinetry.
Ambient temperatures should not exceed 86°F (30°C) and relative humidity should not exceed 55% RH.
See section: Cautionary notes for full details
Shelves
- The standard cabinet comes with 5 shelves
- 4 shelves are adjustable to custom heights in 0.5" increments
- Bottom shelf is not movable
Weight

- Recommendation: Hide the main power wire behind the fixture and/or use a security clip to ensure the wire cannot be easily unplugged.
Temperature settings
Temperature is set at the factory and cannot be changed in the field. The operating temperatures are:
- Smart Fridge: 35°F (1.7°C) - ideal for beverages and fresh food
- Smart Pantry: 66°F (18.8°C) - ideal for snacks, chocolates, incidentals
- Smart Freezer: -20°F (- 29°C) - ideal for ice cream, frozen meals, and grab-and-heat products (burritos, breakfast sandwich etc)
Internet connectivity
Does the SIM come installed?
All units come with a Micromart-approved SIM card installed. It is a multi-carrier SIM that can connect to Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. There is an associated monthly fee for cellular usage.
How does the cabinet connect to the internet?
At a minimum, each cabinet will use the provided SIM card for cellular connectivity.
Each cabinet can connect to Wi-Fi or LAN (see: Wi-Fi and LAN requirements).
In this case, the SIM card provided will automatically fail over if the Wi-Fi or LAN goes down.
Wi-Fi can be configured by the Micromart team remotely if and when the router has a basic cellular connection. Please note, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections may have certain security or firewall policies that may impact persistent connectivity of Micromart units.
The LAN cable will need to be installed on-site during your setup. Operators are responsible for providing a CAT5 or CAT6 ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors.
How much data does it use?
Data usage is variable based on the site's cabinet utilization. The operator will not be charged for data for software updates done by Micromart.
How much data does it use for the digital display?
The video file for the digital display only uses data when the machine is rebooted or when a new video is uploaded. For clarity, the video is stored locally during its regular operating loop (no data is being used when it's running).
Color
Micromart cabinets have a black interior and exterior. We provide options for magnetic sides or surrounds if you want to modify the exterior branding. Contact your Micromart representative for more details.
Compliance / Certifications

Cautionary notes
Smart Cabinets are designed for indoor use only.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR UNITS CHARGED WITH PROPANE (R290) REFRIGERANT
Propane is approved for use as a refrigerant in commercial, self-contained units in Canada and USA under limited use conditions. It can be used in new equipment only; retrofitting is not allowed. When mixed with air, a flammable propane-air mixture can be created and easily ignited by sparks, open flames, or hot surfaces. This is particularly true in confined zones. Propane is heavier than air and tends to settle at lower points.
To mitigate the risk, please follow the precautionary measures as follows:
- Avoid unit installation in areas with open flames (kitchens, repair garages or the like) or in the vicinity of open flames or high surface temperatures.
- Avoid unit installation in confined spaces. Well-ventilated areas are preferred. Keep clear all ventilation opens of obstructions.
- Avoid unit installation in areas with direct sunlight to prevent cabinet / electronics overheating
LEVELLING OF CABINETS
Improper levelling may cause:
- Door sealing issues
- Drainage problems during defrost
- Ice buildup
- Temperature instability
- Avoid unit installation in areas with direct sunlight to the front glass door to minimize impact on product integrity, cooling performance and vision system camera glare.
