WiFi / LAN Requirements

Technical requirements for connecting your Smart Store to building provided WiFi or LAN

The Smart Cabinets each require a persistent internet connection to service guests with consistent uptime and a highly responsive speed of service.

Once connected to the internet, Micromart's technology operates autonomously and does not require any access to the building's systems or data. The cabinet's router operates its own private and secure network that connects the Smart Fridge, Smart Cookers, payment processing and sensors.

The cabinet's router can be connected to the internet via (1) Wired LAN or (2) Secure WiFi with the following requirements:

  1. Connection Speed: minimum speeds of 10 Mbps up/down
  2. Persistent connection: Guest networks and other network policies sometimes limit how long or when a device can connect. Our service requires a persistent connection. If network passwords are changed from time-to-time, please provide Micromart with at least 1 week notice.
  3. No device-type limiting policies: Our kiosk uses a variety of special IoT enabled devices that are not typical phones, tablets or laptops. Please ensure that there are no device type limiting policies. MAC/IP addresses etc can be provided upon request.
  4. No Captive Portal / Login Page
  5. Security protocol (if WiFi): WPAx-PSK
  6. SSID Network Name (if WiFi): must be visible, not hidden
  7. WiFi Frequency: 5GHz preferred (2.4GHz also works)
  8. Provide a Non-DFS Channel: avoid 52-144, it can be 34-48 or 149-161
Supported: you're prompted only for the WiFi network password Not Supported: Portals that make users register or "click to connect" via a portal
